How Studds Accessories is Transforming the Lives of Underprivileged Communities via its CSR Programs

In recent years, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved substantially. As businesses, we increasingly recognise the importance of social responsibility alongside ethical and environmentally conscious behaviour. At Studds Accessories Ltd., we firmly believe that integrating social, ethical and environmental responsibility into our governance practices generates long-term value while contributing meaningfully to society.

The Four Prime Pillars

At Studds Accessories Limited, a public listed company and one of India’s leading manufacturers of motorcycle helmets and accessories under the STUDDS and SMK brands, we have remained deeply committed to CSR initiatives that support disadvantaged communities. Our CSR philosophy is centred around four prime pillars: education, healthcare, environment and hygiene/sanitation. In addition to these initiatives, we continue to uphold strong corporate governance and responsible business practices.

To support the well-being of local communities, we implemented the following CSR activities in FY 2024–25 through trusted implementing agencies:

1. Education – Project Shiksha

Education is fundamental to building a prosperous, healthy and equitable society. Yet, despite widespread awareness, millions of children in India remain out of school, leaving them vulnerable to unemployment, early marriage, early pregnancy and lifelong poverty.

To address this, we have worked to ensure that children from low-income families in local communities receive access to quality education. We provide sponsorships to students in Faridabad and Delhi NCR, supporting their schooling and college-related expenses. Our support includes school fees, course fees, uniforms, books, stationery and more. We have also extended special education assistance to differently abled children, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive learning.

2. Healthcare – Project Arogya

India’s healthcare expenditure continues to be among the lowest globally, resulting in inadequate infrastructure, limited medical technology and gaps in human resources. Although the government is making efforts to address these challenges, coordinated action from both public and private stakeholders remains crucial, especially for underserved communities.

Through Project Arogya, we have contributed to the well-being of weaker sections of society. On several occasions, we have sponsored surgeries for underprivileged children. We have also facilitated access to essential healthcare services and therapies for children with disabilities, supporting their physical and occupational development.

3. Environment – Project Paryavaran

With the growing impact of climate change, environmental sustainability has become an urgent priority. Protecting natural resources—flora, fauna, air, soil and water—is central to our responsibility as a corporate citizen.

Under Project Paryavaran, we maintain public parks and green spaces in Faridabad, recognising their value to both the environment and the local community. We have also installed rainwater harvesting systems to encourage greener, more sustainable surroundings.

4. Hygiene & Sanitation – Project Swachhta

Proper hygiene and sanitation are essential for the health, safety and dignity of communities, particularly low-income households.

To promote better hygiene practices, we distributed dustbins and introduced plastic reuse techniques. We also supported menstrual hygiene by distributing chemical-free, oxo-biodegradable sanitary napkins and conducting awareness sessions for women from underprivileged backgrounds.

In addition, to advance sustainability and local livelihoods, we installed composting systems, encouraged organic farming and trained villagers in recycling practices. These efforts led to the formation of a Village Monitoring Committee and a children-led Green Brigade that actively conducts clean-up drives and environmental awareness sessions.

To further promote hygienic living, we carried out cleanliness drives across 55 villages and cleaned sewage lines, followed by household awareness campaigns. We also trained communities in waste management, segregation and composting, helping them handle dry and wet waste responsibly. A large-scale sanitation and waste management initiative was undertaken in Amipur village, Faridabad, in partnership with Tender Hearts Education Society.

Additional Responsibilities

Beyond these initiatives, we have contributed to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and supported various relief activities led by the Central Government.

All CSR projects are funded in accordance with our CSR Policy and approved by the Board based on recommendations from the CSR Committee. Funds are disbursed in tranches depending on the nature of each initiative, ensuring full transparency and accountability.

In FY 2024–25, more than 40 individuals directly benefitted from our education and healthcare interventions, while our environment and sanitation programs have indirectly benefitted hundreds of residents across the villages where these initiatives were undertaken. In total, we invested approximately ₹1.08 crore in approved CSR activities during the year.

These efforts reflect our belief that businesses can operate efficiently, sustainably and compassionately while fully upholding organisational objectives.
