Transforming Lives - A Journey with Ahaan Vocational Centre: BFSI

The Ahaan Vocational Centre: BFSI has emerged as a symbol of transforming the future with the collective efforts of youth, great Samaritans, driven organisations and the larger society. Since its inception back in October 2023, the centre has successfully empowered 180 youths from economically weaker sections of the Nava Vadaj neighbourhood in various aspects of BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance), offering them the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the industry.

Taking a holistic approach, the centre has been able to combine both theoretical knowledge and practical experience with the incorporation of hands-on learning. Every student’s journey started with a one-to-one counselling session to map their aspirations. The classroom sessions focus on key fundamentals and were augmented by technical training and job-readiness development activities. Students were groomed and encouraged to participate in the special campus placement fairs. The various job fairs connected the students with employers and thereby provided rich insights into the job landscape and gave them a better understanding of roles that potentially fit their skill set. Some of the key highlights of the program were the exposure visits to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), and the corporate office of Apexon to help widen the perspective of the students.

The impact of the Ahaan  BFSI skill development program extends beyond mere numbers. The centre was able to keep the promise of creating economic opportunities for youth hailing from less privileged backgrounds, providing them with a pathway to financial stability and independence. Additionally, the centre has been successful in serving as a platform for women to re-enter the workforce post-marriage or childbirth, promoting gender inclusivity and empowerment within the BFSI sector. Showing the effectiveness of the training the centre provides, is the fact that 75% of students were able to secure a job post-training. Students had also reported a significant boost in their confidence levels and communication skills. Having a course completion ratio of 85% stands as a testament to the quality training the centre provides.

As the journey continues, the Ahaan Vocational Centre: BFSI remains steadfast in its commitment to equipping individuals with the tools they need to succeed in the dynamic world of BFSI, transform their future and brighten their environment.
