Chola Foundation hands over ALS Ambulance to NDA to enhance Emergency Care
 

The Chola Foundation, in collaboration with its implementation partner, the Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHIF), officially handed over a fully equipped Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance to the National Defence Academy (NDA). This initiative aims to strengthen emergency medical response systems and significantly reduce preventable deaths and health complications among NDA personnel, Defence Forces veterans, and their families.


The handover ceremony, held at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune, was attended by key stakeholders, including Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi, AVSM, Commandant, NDA; Brigadier S. Vinod, SM, VSM, Brigadier Administration, NDA; Colonel Hussain Khan, Commanding Officer, Military Hospital Khadakwasla; Mr. Narendra Kumar N., Managing Trustee, Chola Foundation; Commodore Ranbir Talwar (Retd.), IHIF; and Dr. Chitra, IHIF.


The project focuses on ensuring timely pre-hospital care and safe patient evacuation, particularly in cases of trauma and traumatic brain injuries (TBI), where rapid medical intervention is critical to improving survival outcomes.


The ambulance is equipped with state-of-the-art life-saving systems, including

  • Advanced Life Support systems
  • Ventilator, oxygen supply, and suction units
  • Trauma stretcher and immobilization devices
  • First aid and emergency trauma care kits


The ALS Ambulance will directly benefit NDA personnel and trainees, as well as Defence Forces veterans and their families, by reducing delays in emergency care, enabling timely medical intervention, minimizing the severity of injuries and complications, and improving survival rates during critical situations.
