The project was funded by the Karnataka govt and implemented in 72 healthcare facilities including PHCs, CHCs, and district hospitals in 3 districts in Karnataka. A total of 572 staff nurses and front-line workers were trained during the project. Over the period total of 14,000 pregnancies were monitored and 11600 critical alerts were generated where the mother's vital parameters were beyond the normal ranges. Out of 14000, 3700 referrals were made to higher centres. in 86% of cases, the alarms were followed and action was taken.
The software application Daksh was used as a digital tool to record the labor process which was earlier done on paper. Once data input is done, the software application generated auto interpretations of complicated graphs which helped on-duty staff nurses to take the next course of action. The app also allowed doctors to monitor patients remotely through an app on their phones which facilitated early identification of complications and early initiation of the treatment.
