Recognizing the risks of unregulated growth, the Government of India has begun tightening compliance norms, introducing stricter KYC rules, higher taxation slabs, and consumer protection mechanisms to safeguard citizens. Insights from this study were shared with policymakers during internal deliberations and helped inform the premise of the new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. The report contributes to building an evidence-based policy framework that balances innovation, safety, and social responsibility in India’s evolving online gaming landscape.
