Lack of access to safe water sources, and poor sanitation practices lead to high instances of waterborne diseases in the villages around the Satara District. The source water from tube wells and tap were not treated and being consumed as it is by the villagers. Datwyler supported 7 villages around its Khandala facility since the year2018 by providing each village with an AquaTower along with Planet Water's Water-Health and Hygiene Education Program. During the deployments, the villagers and volunteers from Datwyler joined the Planet Water Team in installing the AquaTower systems. The children and parents also attended the education activities about healthy hygiene practices. Quote from the volunteer from one of the projects - "I saw a lot of happy faces today because of the AquaTower we built. Now, the children can drink and wash their hands conveniently. I am glad to have this fantastic experience of helping others." Pandurang Dhaygude, Datwyler Team Leader. The total number of beneficiaries impacted from these projects are more than 21000 (Considering 3000 per village), including patients from the Government Hospital, Ahire.
