Government of India launched the “Transformation of Aspirational Districts” initiative with NITI Aayog as the key player in year 2017, thereafter NITI Aayog adopted 25 of the then 117 districts. In these 25 districts Piramal Foundation partnered to provide technical support and bring about the envisioned transformation in Health & Nutrition and Education indicators through the Aspirational District Transformation (ADT) project. Piramal Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Piramal group. It develops innovative, replicable and impact-oriented solutions to resolve issues that are critical barriers towards hidden India’s economic potential. The core values of the group are ‘Knowledge, Action, Care and Impact’. The project team consists of technical experts and data analysts in their respective fields.
Project Objective: The Piramal Swasthya’s main objectives are:
- Capacity building of supervisors, frontline workers, middle management at district level and sub-district level.
- Community engagement (Jan Andolan) by transforming VHSND into comprehensive services day by converging other line departments for delivering services.
- Facility based interventions such as strengthening one district hospital and 2-3 First referral units, improving Quality of services, accreditations and training of staff nurses along with other staff of selected facilities.
- Effective scheme implementation including assessment of existing schemes, improvement to implement schemes and revising the policy guidelines.
