Human Welfare Foundation (HWF), in its research found that the lack of quality education contributed a huge share of backwardness among minority population. Here, HWF thought to make a difference through building a quality institute that will meet moral and modern educational needs of the hour. The subsequent result was the ‘Scholar School’.
This model project is focused on building quality institutions to provide ‘the right’ education which will help a downtrodden community move forward, build their life, and participate in nation building. These schools (English Medium) are built in minority concentrated districts which are underperforming on all indices of development. Through this school project, HWF aims at transforming the target population giving them affordable quality education and training. There are four such schools running in New Delhi, Guwahati, Rargaon (newly constructed) and Howrah. More schools are proposed to be constructed in Mewat, Maldah, Lucknow and Bhopal.
Bringing awareness among the target population on the importance of quality education and its significant role in the socio-economic and cultural growth is another on-ground interventions of the project. Currently, there are more than 1300 students studying in Scholar Schools which includes children adopted by HWF from the riots affected families.
