CIIT has a unique partnership model with the health system of the country, working in coordination with the states National Health Mission along with the active participation of Rashtriya Bal Swastya Karyakram (RBSK) screening team. The models include various levels of interventions mentioned below:
Early identification and treatment:
Screening of children for deformities by ASHA and Anganwadi workers and if identified with clubfoot are referred to CIIT.
Treatment:
Health care professionals in public hospitals are trained to provide ‘Ponseti Method’ of Clubfoot treatment to children who are identified by the public health community volunteers and CIIT outreach and awareness activities. Clinic spaces are provided where children are given casting, parents are provided with counselling support, and data is maintained through medical records and braces that are stored safely
Training and Capacity Building:
Training to counsellors and state program coordinators for effective maintenance. Providing counselling and guidance to the parents along the process of treatment and maintaining records of every enrolled child to monitor follow-ups for better effectiveness.
Community sensitisation:
Follow – Up:
Follow Up is an important element in the treatment of clubfoot. After the completion of initial treatment procedure of the child, he/she is required to visit clinic for the next 5years.This is to make sure that the feet of the child are completely treated and no relapse cases occur. Home visit is also an element under the follow –up considering the families visit from far off places. This helps the child to maintain the correction of foot and also helps in reducing the drop-out rates.
