The objective of the Project is building flood resilient Community in Dhemaji of Assam. To achieve the above mentioned objective some of the initiatives/ activities taken up in the geographical area includes:

• Conducting circle level consultation to update Disaster Management plan by engaging different stakeholders.
• Training of stakeholders for Disaster Risk Reduction/ Recovery plan.
• Sharing/ Consulting comprehensive of DRR/ Recovery plan at the circle level.
• Conducting awareness campaign through Rally, distribution of posters & leaflets at the village, Street Play and quiz competitions on DRR in various schools.
• Conducting circle level capacity building of government officials , NGO , DMT members on Community Managed DRR, Rescue, Evacuation, first aid , water and sanitation etc. by experts.
• Conducting mock drill at the circle level engaging various line department.

Special Features of the Project

The project is in it’s initial phase of implementation. The project works in the flood prone area and is preparing to roll out the plan for disaster management.
