i-Saksham fellowship is a two-years program in which, we mobilize and develop enterprising local youths, mainly females or differently-abled in remote, conflict affected areas, as community edu-leaders and build their capacity to deliver best pedagogy practices, with the aid of digital technology.
These edu-leaders either run an entrepreneurial community learning centers providing supplementary education of 10hrs/week, aligned with State Board Curriculum to children during or after school or volunteer in government schools in their villages to do the same. i-Saksham provides them capacity building support through continuous professional development training for two years and on-site support through regular classroom observations, feedback, and community engagement. They are also trained on computer skills, life skills, and functional English to have enhanced livelihood prospects.
Currently, i-Saksham is building capacity of 100 community edu-leaders. They have earned approximately INR 1.5 million through part time enterprising community learning centers along with building their own skills. These youths have shown a great aspirational growth during their journey, as a result of which 5 youths are currently pursuing higher education from prestigious universities of the country. These youths have become a role model for others, aspiring other community educators in the area.
