Project Description

Objective of Program:

  • To acknowledge girl students from neighboring Government Schools regarding Aeromodelling.
  • To provide an opportunity to experience the thrill of flying and turn your dreams to reality with connoisseur in flying.
  • To promote the growth of the sports and hobby of model flying and other adventure activities.
  • To assist girl student to the hobby in selection of models/equipment and provide flying training.

Details of Program:

Aircraft modeling refers to the development of model aircraft, which can be static or practical. IEEE WIE AG Kalinga University Student Branch (SBA60204569) organized a two-day workshop on AEROMODELLING for female students from government schools from March 16-17. Kalinga University has adopted 6 villages under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) scheme of the Government of India. The university also has an active IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, which initiates programs to support women in our society. A team of UBA and IEEE WIE from the university took the initiative to train female students on one of the trending technologies, 'Aeromodelling' from adopted villages. Female students from Palaud, Kotni, Tandul and Kuhera participated in this workshop.

Mr. Harsha Prasad Sah, an active member of IEEE Kalinga University Student Branch hosted the program. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. R Shridhar acted as the chief guest for the event. “Technology will play as a leading role for your future” he addressed. He also encouraged the students to take part in similar value addition program in future too. Dr. Vijayalaxmi Biradar, Director IQAC of Kalinga University & Chairperson of IEEE WIE AG MP Section has also congratulated the students for showing their interest in this workshop. On Day 1 (16th March), Dr. Vijayalaxmi held a quick Interaction session where students interacted with each other; later she elaborated on various concept of aeronautical engineering and different parameters of aeromodelling. The second day (17th March) was handled jointly by Mr. Anup Kumar Jana, IQAC Coordinator & IEEE KU SB Counsellor of the university and Mr. Sarat Chandra Mohanty, IQAC Coordinator of the University. On this day, students were made to assemble various parts of an aero plane and fly the plane. All the girl students have taken part in this event with enthusiasm and have practically experienced the basics of aeromodelling. An assessment test was conducted at the end of this event and Certificates were also distributed to the participants. This event was funded by R10 IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity group under special funding request scheme.
