Project Description

The Programs under the ‘vertical’ are conducted in association with Government or Low-budget schools meant for children from underserved communities. The programs are designed for students of class 8 to class 12. They are offered as individual stand-alone programs or a composite set of interventions. The programs are:

  • Adolescent Well-being and Success (AWS)AWS programs frequently also include Infrastructure Development, Teacher Orientation, and Teacher Training Programs. The objective of the AWS programs is to prepare the students to be emotionally, socially, and economically self-reliant.
  • Counseling and Guidance Services in Schools (CGS): Intending to guide adolescents towards emotional, social, and economic self-reliance, we provide ongoing individual counseling, supported by Life Skills and Career Guidance workshops for classes 8th to 12th. To continue the process through the Corona pandemic, the program has been redesigned for online delivery, facilitated learning, and one-on-one counseling.
  • Career Guidance (CH)- Career Guidance to high school students is provided as a stand-alone process. Natasha's Career Highway Workshops are designed to assist each participant to identify career(s) most suitable for them based on scientifically assessed aptitudes and interests, as well as their competitive ability, dreams, aspirations, and the urgency of income generation.
  • Online Counseling and Guidance through a Toll-free Helpline – Keh Daalo. This online intervention was designed to continue providing one-on-one counseling and guidance in the context of the Corona epidemic. The Toll-Free Helpline provides access to a listening post where adolescents and young adults are assured of empathetic and compassionate listeners, who can guide them in dealing with their concerns and problems in a systematic step-by-step process. The caller is provided with correct information, equipped with coping mechanisms to deal with stress, anxiety, and anger, and assisted in making the right career choices for a productive and successful life.
  • Scholastic Improvement Program (SIP) With a view to ensuring children complete school education and become eligible for growth-oriented jobs and careers, scholastic improvement programs in basic Reading-Readiness, English, Hindi, and Maths are implemented in collaboration with school management. Students are provided remedial education at remedial assistance at their level based on an assessment of each of the four key abilities based on ASER-type tests and brought up to the level of the class they are enrolled in.
  • Basic Computer & Internet Usage Skills (IT) Starting from getting to know the keyboard, the hardware, and software, the students are taken through a gradual process of learning and practicing on Microsoft Suite, and Internet processes like mailing, search, google docs, and use of Google Drive. Each session is a skill-building session, with one student practicing on a computer / laptop.
