Driven by the vision of every Indian being self-reliant, having self-worth and leading a dignified and productive life, ETASHA believe it is imperative to work with Adolescents to help shape their self concept, values and ethics and prepare them for meaningful employment and income generation. This belief took shape in the form of the Counselling & Guidance program for Adolescents in Government Schools in 2015-16.
Currently the following programs are offered:
Counselling and Guidance Services in Schools
With the aim of guiding adolescents towards emotional, social and economic self-reliance, they provide on-going individual counselling, supported by Life Skills and Career Guidance workshops for class 8th to 12th. To continue the process through the Corona pandemic, the program has been redesigned for online delivery, facilitated learning and one-on-one counselling.
Career Guidance
Career Guidance to highschool students is provided as a stand-alone process. ETASHA’s Career Highway Workshops are designed to assist each participant to identify career(s) most suitable for them on the basis of scientifically assessed aptitudes and interests, as well as their competitive ability, dreams, aspirations and the urgency of income generation.
Online Counselling and Guidance through a Toll-free Helpline – Keh Daalo
This online intervention was designed to continue providing one-on-one counselling and guidance in the context of the Corona epidemic. The Toll-Free Helpline provides access to a listening post where adolescents and young adults are assured of empathetic and compassionate listeners, who can guide them in dealing with their concerns and problems in a systematic step-by-step process. The caller is provided with correct information, equipped with coping mechanisms to deal with stress, anxiety and anger, and assisted in making the right career choices for a productive and successful life.
Scholastic Improvement Program
With a view to ensure children complete school education and become eligible for growth-oriented jobs and careers, scholastic improvement programs in basic Reading-Readiness, English, Hindi and Maths are implemented in collaboration with school management. Students are provided remedial education at remedial assistance at their level based on assessment on each of the four key abilities on the basis of ASER type tests, and brought up to the level of the class they are enrolled in.
