Background

Children living in orphanages/CCIs (Child Care Institutions) have a right to living in a safe, protected and hygienic environment akin to children residing with their families. However, several times, this may not be the case. CCIs sometimes lack the funds or resources to maintain upkeep or upgrade their facilities that are essential to provide a protected and clean surrounding for children to grow in. In general, CCIs are barely able to provide basic needs - clean facilities, basic education, hygiene, healthcare and reasonable nutrition.

CSA partners with CCIs to improve and enhance the quality of care for children in CCIs through our ‘Go Wide’ programs which look into the basic living conditions of children and our ‘Go Deep’ programs (which improve the development of a child e.g. education, vocation training, computer training etc.)

Key objectives of the Project 

• Provide basic necessities in the areas of health care, education, vocational education  & learn with fun activities
• Have a deeper engagement by also looking at building capacity of the CCI to sustain the improvement in children 

• Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) partners with child care institutions (CCI) and work to improve and enhance the quality of care to children in selected CCI’s. The primary intervention originates from our belief that a happy and healthy childhood is the right of every child. 
• The focus of our primary support and interventions are Preventive health care & fun learning as a part of "Go Wide Program" based on CCI engagements acceptance and willingness to improve child development, we move towards a deeper engagements as "Go Deep Program" like Education,, Vocational education / Aftercare program for children along with capacity building program for the CCI.
• CSA works on holistic Child Care Program Model catering to every need of the child when a home/ CCI is taken by a partner for a brief period of time. Through these interventions -  Health, Hygiene & Sanitation ,Improving Health – through BMI status of children, Education ,Life-Skills (from year 2 onwards),Vocational Education, Learn with fun, Day To Day Essential, Infrastructure to improve health & hygiene, Aftercare/Livelihood , CSA in association with the partner and CCI aims to give a better living condition to these underprivileged children residing in that CCI. 
• CSA would assess the CCIs once a year with regard to compliance to the Juvenile Justice Act, child care facilities & care with an objective to monitor and check the CCI’s work and fulfillment of criterions of our association with them.
