RAF Global in partnership with Alkem Foundation in India is working together to reach out to 30,000 people across 95 villages in 4 districts in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Through this project, both the institutions along with the district administration is intensifying the implementation of ‘Anaemia Mukt Bharat’, a Government of India programme that was launched in the year, 2018.
Globally, Anaemia poses a serious public health problem with, nutritional deficiency (such as deficiency of iron, vitamin B12, vitamin A and folates), infectious diseases (including malaria, tuberculosis and HIV), acquired disorders, and parasitic infections. In India, it particularly affects young children, adolescent girls and women, especially pregnant & lactating women.
With this project, the CSR arm of Alkem Laboratories Ltd., Alkem Foundation is supporting RAF Global’s efforts in creating awareness among the community on Anaemia (including the possible causes), prevention measures (in case of iron deficiency anaemia) and the need for proactiveness in undergoing screening tests in case of weakness and related symptoms.
The project intends to complement and energise the efforts of Government institutions such as AWCs, PHCs, CHCs and schools, along with women’s collectives nurtured by the organisation.
