Project Description

ACT SMART is the flagship India program of the Global Smashed Online project. Designed by Collingwood Learning in the UK, it is part of a global effort to develop essential life skills and resilience in teenagers through effective education. The program focuses on early intervention by teaching strategies and skills to cope with pressures in real-life situations as also envisioned by National Education Policy 2020. The initiative is presently running in 25+ countries and has positively impacted over 1,000,000 students globally.

About the Workshop:

ACT SMART workshop is a 90 Minute workshop, consisting of an interactive movie and live engagement with students in the age group of 13-17 years of age. It chronicles the story of three friends Gargi, Manan, and Parth as they attempt to navigate through the challenges of bullying, peer pressure, and underage lifestyle habits such as addiction. In India, this workshop has been hosted for 60000+ students across schools, NGOs, community centers, and orphanages.

Delivery and Engagement Model for hosting the workshop:

  1. Virtual Model: Expert and trained facilitators host this workshop through Zoom, FB Live, etc. for teenagers who have access to digital devices and can attend this workshop from the comfort of their homes. A maximum of 1000 students can be accommodated in one session.
  2. Semi-Virtual Model: Expert and trained facilitators host this workshop through Zoom, FB Live, etc. for teenagers who have now started going to school. In this mode, the students can attend the workshop from their classrooms, while the facilitator joins in virtually.
  3. Physical Model: Trained facilitators host the ACT SMART India workshop physically at schools for far-fetched and distant schools, where there is a lack of digital devices and limited internet bandwidth.

The model of engagement and date for the workshop can be chosen by the school as per their convenience. The SPOC from CSRBOX coordinates with the school SPOC for all the necessary requirements.

Special Features of Project

  • The students through these sessions learn about the behaviours such as peer pressure, bullying, underage lifestyle habits, the nuances of friendship and how important its role is in our lives.
  • The workshop acts as a precursor for the students towards problem solving, the art of saying No, engaging in internet smart behaviours to enlist a few.
  • These skills serve as a pre-emptive for the students and consolidate an informed action, when faced with a similar situation in future.
  • E- certificates are issued for coordinating teachers and the students attending the workshop, once the list of students is shared with the CSRBOX team.
