
In 2012 Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) and Sadvichar Parivar established a skill training institute named Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (SEDI) at Uvarsad, Gandhiangar, with Divyang youth (differently able) receiving training in more than 9 different trades. The course cater to rural youths who are marginally educated and have limited options for livelihood. ACF’s skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) Provide Training and build capacities of youth in various trades, opening up avenues for self or wage employment. All courses are affiliated to the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) and certified under the modular Employment Scheme of the Centre Government. Basic Computer, Spoken English and other soft skills are compulsory components of all training programmes conducted at SEDIs.SEDI tries to bridge this gap by providing the required skill based training to youth in rural and semi urban areas.
Activities undertaken –
Trainings provided to over 2000 youth – girls and boys for Computer hardware/ networking, Industrial Electrical, Mobile phone repairing, Home appliances repairing, Industrial tailoring, Mason, Beautician, Welder, Retail.
In addition, support for placement was provided to the students after training and 80% trainees got placement after trainings.
