The youth of the community served by Sambodh are very motivated to earn a respectable living. While the adults are employed as labourers, auto-rickshaw drivers, garage workers, or in small home-based businesses in embroidery, tailoring, incense stick making, etc., the youth have many aspirations. With the growing exposure to the outside world through television and social media, the youth do not want to pursue the same jobs as their parents.
The pandemic has brought challenges for the youth. Many have been forced to drop out of school and had to put their educational aspirations on hold. Sambodh believes that supporting the youth through skills training would help them find gainful employment. The interaction with the youth has led Sambodh to pursue the following areas for skills training:
