Persons with disabilities or at the risk of developing disabilities, in districts Kupwara and Ganderbal, are receiving Physical Rehabilitation Services. (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Hearing and Speech Therapy, Activities of daily living (ADL) training, Caregiver training, gait training, Prosthetic and Orthotic devices, Assistive/mobility devices, Home Modifications as per Universal Design)
Activities undertaken
- People with disabilities especially children are receiving quality Physical rehabilitation services (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Hearing therapy)
- Caregiver Training provided to the caregivers of beneficiaries.
- Training on activities of daily living (ADL) for people with disabilities along with their caregivers.
- Prosthetic Devices are fabricated, Fitted and repaired.
- Orthotic Devices are fabricated, Fitted and repaired.
- Provision of mobility and assistive devices.
- Low cost home modifications.
Outputs
- Persons with disabilities are receiving quality physical rehabilitation services
- Caregivers of persons with disabilities participate in the training provided through community workers and therapists
- Persons with disabilities participate in trainings on activities of daily living (ADL) making them less dependent on others
- Beneficiaries are provided with Prosthetic, Orthotic and assistive devices
- Extremely vulnerable families are provided with low cost home modifications

Enhanced quality of life with increased mobility and accessibility of people with disabilities

60% of persons with disabilities or at risk of developing disabilities using rehabilitation services, who report satisfaction with services and improved functional independence at the end of the project

Objective #2
Enhancing Awareness on rights, entitlements and schemes for persons with disabilities with all stake holders.
Activities undertaken
- Conduct awareness camps on Rights, entitlements and schemes for people with disabilities at Village, Block and District level.
- Training of relevant stakeholders (ASHA, Anganwadi, health workers) for early identification and prevention of disability.
- Advocacy, DPO training, meetings with stakeholders
- Referral and linkages with government departments and other institutions
Outputs
- People including Persons with disabilities participate in awareness campaigns on rights, entitlements and schemes
- ASHA/Aanganwadi, health workers participate in trainings related to early identifications and prevention of disability
- Stakeholders participate in meetings regarding the rights, schemes and entitlements available for persons with disabilities
- People with disability will be provided with a disability certificate to avail disability pension and other benefits
Outcomes
- Persons with disabilities will be empowered, aware of their rights, and their voice is represented at the government level
- Persons with disabilities will be more independent and are better able to express and communicate as their mobility will enable them to have access to places where they can assert their rights, avail facilities and welfare schemes.
