Project Description

It is estimated that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) account for 71% of total deaths globally & Cancer being one of the major lives decimating biological diseases among the community, a program to detect cancer prevalence among the female group was led in Chickballapur district of Karnataka. The National Program for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases & Stroke (NPCDCS), set up under DDHFW, has taken up the screening for common cancers and is committed to addressing and reducing the current prevalence of common cancer in the Chickballapur district of Karnataka state, where female from the age group of 30 to 65 were educated, screened, and taken for the confirmatory test of cancer (breast, oral, cervical & colorectal) to district hospital based on symptomatic & screening findings.

Special Features of Project

  • This project was planned with an ideology to uplift the women's health & self-care concept in the community with a goal to screen 20 thousand target female groups (35 to 60 years of age) for breast, cervical, colorectal, and oral cancer along with measuring vital, physical, and biochemical parameters.
  • The program is in succession and a total of over 15 thousand beneficiaries have been successfully enrolled and screened under the program scope.
  • Suspected cases approximately 5% of the total population screened have been brought for further care to the district hospital. An end-to-end execution for program designing to program operations, marketing, was handled by Public Health Technologies Trust.
