Project Description

Keeping teachers in the center of quality education delivery and designating them as ‘Agents of Change’, the project aims to ensure that every child in the age group of 6 to 11 years goes to school and there is zero dropouts among these primary school-going children. The program's motto is to catch them and work at building the learning foundation. Primary schools in the Tamia block of Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh have been selected for implementing the project. Tamia is one of the poorest blocks of the state and is inhabited by the ST population. There are 31 schools and 61 teachers covering over 1500 students who have been identified for this program. The project follows a twin approach of training primary school teachers so as to make the teaching of Mathematics and Hindi interesting for students. At the same time, it will strengthen the members of School Management and Development Committees (SMDC) to exercise their right to improve the quality of education in the schools. To ensure that the efforts yield sustained results, strategically the program will work in coordination with the state education department.
