Fight Hunger Foundation has been present in the Burhanpur area of Madhya Pradesh since 2011, working with local partners, to reduce levels of malnutrition in children under five. We have provided essential training for staff in three Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres to develop and improve skills in the treatment of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
Fight Hunger Foundation has signed an agreement with National Health Mission and Department of Women & Child Development, Madhya Pradesh, and have started implementing our nutrition programme in Dhar district. In the first phase, after consulting the former District Collector of Dhar Smt. Jayashri Kiyawat and Integrated Child Development Services department authorities, we have selected Gandhwani block from among the 13 blocks in the district.
Fight Hunger Foundation’s approach in Madhya Pradesh over the coming years will also include essential work at the community level, building the skills and knowledge of health workers, mothers, and caregivers to ensuring that more children’s lives can be saved. We plan to open outpatient centres allowing children suffering from severe malnutrition to be treated as an outpatient, thus meaning fewer referrals to the overcrowded Nutrition Rehabilitation centres.
