Dindori district is situated at a distance of 135 km from Jabalpur where most of the tribal people reside and according to the census of about 2004-5 of Baiga tribe in this district 5178 families reside in this district if we talk about Dindori block only. There are 801 Baiga families in 34 villages. Their survival depends on wild non timber forest products like Har baheda, amlai etc. Because of not getting the right market for the wild crops, their development has been affected. The people residing in the area have around 2050.56 hectares of land. For the economic and social development of these people we are planning to promote agricultural practices. To promote agriculture we have to make the land fertile. In order to do so, we have to build farm ponds, mills, boulders, and small check dams in the area. After which we will help them with the agricultural work.
In the first phase of this project, we will work with 801 families of the Dindori block. 2050 hectares of land will be made suitable for farming and storing crops. The result of our initiative will lead to the improvement in economic and social condition of the 801 families of the Baiga tribe.
