Spark Minda Foundation established a programme called “Saksham” for Empowering People with Disabilities in 2015. It is supplementing the Rights of People with Disabilities Act 2016 of the Government of India. Under this program, SMF has catered to more than 11,000 PwDs with more than 13,000 fitments, 1277 UDID registrations and approximately 776 employments, through providing services at their centres located in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra and through organising camps in various parts of India.

Within this programme, the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) are not only assisted with assistive aids but are also provided employment and livelihood support. Saksham was launched as a programme in the year 2015 and since then it has played an important role in the empowerment of the PWDs.

Saksham Programme is also in-line with Sustainable Development Goals, which aims at the provision of employment to the PwDs in creating an inclusive environment, in providing accessibility to the PWDs, in aiding the registration of UDIDs and by partnering with NGOs, like-minded CSR groups and also with the government. Along with these annual camps are set up to provide services to the community across India.

• Accessible and Assistive Technology to PwDs – artificial limbs and calipers

• To Provide assistance in registering for UDID cards

• Identification and Providing Employment to eligible PwDs with Partner Organisations

• Skill Development and On Job Training as per requirement

Spark Minda Foundation’s Saksham– Empowerment of People with Disabilities (PwDs)  programme has been bestowed upon with a National CSR award for the project in 2019 which was presented by the Honorable Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Ms. Nirmala Sitaraman, and the former President of India.
