Focus on Girl’s Empowerment:

SEDT emphasizes on empowering girls, by providing training and information on regular basis and making them more conscious and capable citizens.  SEDT has undertaken a Kishori Vikas ( Development of girls) with the goal of helping adolescent girls in overall personality development. This is an ongoing work, as new girls are coming up continuously. We have to work with a batch of girls for at least 2 to 3 years, as behavioral changes take more time.  

This project raises awareness of issues such as women's rights, cleanliness, menstruation, and puberty, and focuses on their personal development. For these girls, get-togethers are organized in which their skills and talents are showcased. The goal is to develop females who are versatile and powerful. The initiative seeks to provide training and development opportunities to all selected teenage girls and boys (aged 12-18) in order to make them capable and cognizant of their own development, including health and education.  However, experience over the years has shown that working with girls at a younger age would be more beneficial in dealing with gender bias in the project area.Thus, the program will focus on developing a thought process and encouraging discussions among girls. The training activity is envisioned as an exercise in the capacity-building process.

Following activities will be conducted under this project-

• Health education camp- We will arrange “health education camp” at each village twice in a year. Nutrition expert will educate the girls about “how to prepare good nutritious food with locally available food grains”. Also demonstration will be arranged for one or two recipes.  
• Get together of girls
• Special camp for selected girls. Special training for selected 100 girls ( 10 from each village ) on leadership development.
• Different competitions will be conducted for girls, like reading, story telling,  english vocabulary,  marathi writing, debate competition.  
• Psychological support. Supporting by counselling the girls facing depression.

 Bal Panchayats. (Children’s council.)

In the village we should work simultaneously with boys also. Its important as “Gender issue”.

Children should be motivated to think, think objectively and critically at school age, children should think about their own personality development while in school and see big dreams. For this purpose, children's council’s groups organize discussions among the children and the children discuss with the adults too. Series of such consultations is arranged for them.

We try to increase their self-confidence, increase their inquisitiveness, and make them think about everything through various meetings and discussions. We strive to cultivate their leadership qualities.

• Because of this project first time girls are gating chance to open-up. They are learning to speak, articulate their feelings. First time girls knowing about themselves , like they were not knowing even their blood group or himoglobin. First time girls discussing about "mentruation" started using sanitory pad. 
• Girls are coming together, discussing about their own issues, discussing also the problem of school and society. 
• First time girls stand up agaist social- matters like child marriage. girls are convincing to their parents and also to the parents of other girls, not to marry earlier, but let the girls lean more-educated well. 
• Girls are talking with confidance. They started reading books-extra than of sylabus , some girls could read more than 100 books in 4 months. (we have provided book-box to each village.)
