Project Description

There is a huge backlog of cataract surgeries in the Raigad district, because of the non-availability of quality eye care within the patient’s financial reach and nearby area. Lions Health Foundation is trying to reduce this backlog by conducting free eye check-up camps in villages all over Raigad district, providing transportation from their villages to the base hospital at Chondhi, Alibag, and back, performing free cataract surgeries, and restoring the vision of these poor patients who have lost the same because of cataract. Ansul Speciality Molecules Ltd. Is sponsoring these cataract surgeries by donating Rs. 4000/- per surgery. In the last financial year, Ansul Speciality Molecules Ltd. sponsored 1000 cataract surgeries in addition to many more in the past.

Special Features of Project

  • Cataract is one of the major causes of blindness which is easily treatable. But many patients are deprived of this simple solution for various reasons, one of which is non-affordability. The non-availability of quality services near their vicinity is also one of the reasons for the increase in the backlog of cataract surgeries. Ansul Speciality Molecules Ltd. is helping Lions Health Foundation Alibag in providing this noble service to the poor through the donations.
  • Four Lions clubs around Alibag came together with the clear aim to provide quality and affordable eye care to these visually impaired patients deprived of such facilities.
