Poverty being so abject (75% are BPL), spending on health care is last on the priority list in our intervention area, unless it is a matter of life & death. And when it comes to senior citizen, even that is not a compulsion. 

We as an NGO with the mission of Reaching the Unreached have worked with Mother & Child for last 20 years, Malnutrition for 7 years, adolescent girls for 6 years, children’s education for 12 years. These major projects are now process-bound and are running smoothly. Hence we decided to take up the cause of Geriatrics as our next project. 

The modus operandi is:

• Spread awareness about health issues of senior citizens amongst their family members. We are sure this will also spread awareness with those in age bracket of 40 to 60 as to what care they ought to take to prevent these conditions
• We will organise camps in villages to diagnose senior citizens for Diabetes, Hypertension, Opthalmology, Cardiac status, Prostate status.
• Based on that we will decide further intervention / medication required.
• Transport facility will be arranged for those needing hospitalisation or surgical intervention
• Hospital treatment and investigations will be done at our hospital.
• Transport facility will be arranged do drop them back to their home
• Our Community Health Workers and Medical Social Workers will follow up for post-op care.

• Give a life of dignity to the seniors
• Eliminate the impediments in their path of treatment i.e. travel, money, care-giving etc.
• At our hospital we also have a special ward for senior citizens suffering from mental disorders from mild amnesia to severe parkinsonism
