Vivekanand hospital has been declared as Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital (DCH). As the number of patients outburst in Latur district, the district collector by a circular instructed our hospital to admit and treat the COVID-19 patients at our hospital. Accordingly our hospital made necessary amendments as per government norms in the hospital structure.

40 doctors and around 400 staff are involved in three shifts in COVID-19 treatment. All staff has been provided with all standard precautions like PPE kits and N-95 mask.Normally the COVID-19 affected patients are hospitalized for a minimum 10 days. They are regularly observed and monitored in 3 shifts round the clock by the consultants, medical officers and para-medical staff. Besides, we have engaged patient assistants and other administrative staff for smooth and effective service to the patient. 

For safety of the patients and the hospital staff we have to utilize extra safety consumables like sanitization chemicals, masks, PPE kits, hand gloves etc.The Cognizant Foundation donated 120 PPE’s and 120 N95 masks. (For a single day) for 15 days.

• The patients are treated in Vivekanand Hospital located at Vidya Nagar, Latur 413512
• The target beneficiaries are COVID-19 affected patients from Latur and surrounding districts.
• As it is a pandemic situation patients are coming continuously for treatment. As our hospital is declared as Dedicated COVID Hospital, the patients who require particular treatment are being referred to our hospital from the COVID care centre’s in Latur and surrounding cities.
• As our Vivekanand Hospital is a multispeciality hospital having all related diagnostic and therapeutic facilities under one roof. Patients and referring doctors too give priority for admission in our hospital. Comparatively serious patients use to choose Vivekanand Hospital for treatment. Consequently there is a continuous flow of patients and we have to maintain a waiting list for admission.Hence we can not mention any particular number of beneficiaries. We can just say we are treating 50 indoor COVID patients per day since 20.07.2020 and will be continuously treated in future till the pandemic situation overs.
• In this global pandemic situation, we are trying our level best to treat the COVID affected patients uneventfully. In this process utilization of safety and preventive measures plays a major role. Without the safety of treating doctors and staff themselves, we can not treat the COVID affected patients effectively.
• With the help of PPE kit, mask and gloves we can be deeply involved in the treatment process of the COVID patients without compromising the health of medical and paramedical staff. The staff will work with full confidence and without hesitation in COVID wards and will serve the patients in a better way. This will be the impact of the proposed project and it is the expected outcome too.
