Happy hands school for the Deaf is a rural school for the Deaf children (Hearing disability). it is a residntial school with 40 children and growing by 10 to 15 each year. The school is located in a Eco-Village. We provide education to Deaf children with innovative approaches. India has more than 800 Deaf school and most of them have failed to teach the Deaf how to read and write. Founder of Happy Hands is an eminant professional in the field and himself is a Deaf. The services come from own language and culture. At happy hands you can see happy faces and happy hands used to communicate and learn the best scientific way. We have partnered with academic institutions and individuals of expertise to provide best education to the needy deaf kids. Although most of the kids are local from nearby places most comes from BPL families. Some children are from far areas and two are from Nainital, Uttrakhand.
Our project is so unique that it has attracted the attention of World Federation of the Deaf which have invited us twice for its plenery session. The school philosophy is based on the recent human right approaches to educating deaf through sign language. We completely use natural potential of the children instead of using therapies, aids to fix their hearing. We do not see any disability in the children instead focus on what they have and what they can excel in, this has helped us in gaining confidence and achieving our educational targets and learning outcomes.
