Started in 2011, Our Food for Education initiative touches the lives of over 17,000 children in schools across the age group of 6-14 years in India every day.
The initiative is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition. With the fact that food is a daily need for each one of us, we address this basic need by serving meals every day to underprivileged children. We work towards ending hunger and ensuring all vulnerable children have easy access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food every day along with better education. We work to end all forms of malnutrition to reduce stunting and wasting of children.
Through the years, we have fed over 20 million meals to over 17,000 children in need, starting from one feeding center in Delhi to over 70 centers across 12 States in India. These centers are mainly non-formal educational setups where we connect freshly cooked meals to food insecure children every day with the objective of bettering their health, education and safety. This also helps ensure parents send children to school. This way the children are secure and saved from vulnerabilities.
Responsenet along with over 230 private sector partners are significantly improving the nutrition and literacy levels of poor vulnerable children in rural and urban communities across India. Our holistic approach helps create the opportunity for children to learn, play and thrive who would otherwise be deprived. Our goal is to create the freedom for the most vulnerable children to aspire as far as their dreams can take them for a better future.
