This project is focused on the popular medicinal plants namely Ashwgandha, Guggal, Pathar-chatta, Satavari and Giloy etc. The trainees will be well aware and knowledgeable about the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, Post harvest management, marketing strategies and planning along with exposure to medicinal plants entrepreneurial activities.
The farmers, growers will get a new avenue for income generation. The processing and proper marketing will help in enhanced profit to farmers and growers. The quality raw material will be available for end users of the medicinal and aromatic plants. The ample entrepreneur opportunities will be available to the people. The project will also help to establish a local community group which will be responsible for co-ordination of all matters relating to medicinal plants, including drawing up policies and strategies for conservation, proper harvesting, cost-effective cultivation, research and development, processing, marketing of raw material in order to protect, sustain and develop this sector. Nurseries will be established for supply of quality planting material to the local inhabitants.
Farmers from five villages named Jharna, Devla, Keshrisinghpura, Kapidyawas and Kotjewar were trained on cultivation methods of medicinal plants, processing and post harvest management, live demonstration of plantation. They also visited medicinal plants processing and post harvest facilities in campus and they were benefited by practical exposure in campus herbal garden with the help of expert committee members.
