Operations Peacemaker aims to bring about behavioral-change within the community, and their success is measured by the long-term commitment to respect and protect women and girls. Their programs are designed to have a ripple effect for women and girls, sustained to last for generations. Their mission is to serve women and girls and enable them to be change makers and raise awareness on gender based violence. This is the continual focus with which we carry out their programs.
Through prevention programs, Operation PeaceMaker aims to ensure that the cycle of abuse is stopped before it even begins. The team has tailormade curriculums for each demographic of the society that ensures that the members of the community are sensitised and educated about issues of gender, masculinity, violence, gender based discrimination, sexual harrasment and laws related to them. They do not focus on men as the problem rather work with them as a solution to develop safe spaces for women.
Through intervention, Operation PeaceMaker aims to provide support, relief and rehabilitation to women, children and families who have undergone domestic violence, child sexual abuse or any other kind of violence. They provide free counselling, legal and safe home services to women and children who have survived abuse. Through these initiatives we advance the rights of women and enable them to be agents of change and also further advance gender equality.
Operation PeaceMaker’s capacity for adequate relief is unique due to their strong partnerships with local police. Operation PeaceMaker focuses on men as the solution rather than just the problem. In addressing domestic violence, OPM has made men their allies instead of enemies, building a team of good men who are examples that breaking the cycle of abuse is possible. OPM’s counsellors and case workers are trained to counsel men with equal empathy and equal determination, knowing that if men do not become a willing part of the change, then the abuse will only continue. In 2018, Operation PeaceMaker partnered with Quantium to create a data management system called “PeaceTracker” which enables us to capture the details of each and every case and family that approaches our counseling centres. The software helps us track the progress of each case - the counselling sessions, follow ups conducted and actions taken.
