To manage behavioral problems and to impart special skills, self-help skills, and cater to the therapy needs of intellectual disability children. To apply the single window concept of providing for the plurality of therapy needs of the beneficiaries. RCI recognized BRS graduates who can provide for the above viz. Speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as psycho-therapy and parental counseling are encouraged to be recruited. Efforts should be made to use their services and dispense with the practice of hiring persons separately for each of the therapeutic services.
To strive towards development of speech to facilitate integration in regular schools and the extent of effort in this respect would be the index for performance of the project. The transfer from this stage to special schools should be limited to the extent possible.
Education system will be improved in urban and rural areas and both vocational & regular education will be promoted. Illiteracy can be removed from society. Again, the possibility of inclusive education will be more successful. Strong Awareness will be created in the project area about persons with disabilities educational rights of all children and problems. Primary Healthcare service for mothers will have to be provided to prevent disability and persons with disabilities will have to be educated and properly rehabilitated. Both the person with disabilities and the youth group will achieve economic sustainability. Poverty will be reduced and opportunities for employment will be ensured. Link and relations between persons with disabilities and other community people will be more participatory and cooperative. Mothers and primary caregivers will have time-off for rest, leisure or earn a living by working in small scale cottage industries or some other productive place and earn a living. Early intervention services will be readily available for all families in these communities in case of high-risk infants and young children with developmental delays or disabilities. There are no risks in this project as the Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People’s existing infrastructure forms the backbone of this project and the duration of five (5) years will ensure that each child will get the maximum benefit from the service till she/ he is ready to move on to primary school.
Reduced number of out of school children of SC, ST, Minority and within them girls and Children with special needs in areas. Impact will be fully functional elementary and secondary schools as per the given state and national norms in targeted areas. Percent increase in enrolment in primary section and Enrolment and attendance of children in elementary and secondary education section.
