IRCTC partners with Robin Hood Army for free distribution of RTE meals
Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) a unit of Indian Railways and one the largest catering establishments of the country has partnered with Robin Hood Army (RHA), an NGO for distribution of ready-to-eat (RTE) “Aloo Kanda Poha” in Mumbai to the poor and needy through Uber Logistic Network amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative started by IRCTC in association with the NGO will ensure the distribution of RTE Aloo Kanda Poha to the destitute, needy and poor people.
The service commenced on August 17, 2020, from the Mumbai Central Base Kitchen and the event was attended by Satya Kumar, DRM, MMCT, Rahul Himalian, GGM/WZ IRCTC, Sumit Thakur, CPRO WR, and Faiza Dhanani and Deepak Singh, coordinators from Robin Hood Army and other senior railway and IRCTC officials.
IRCTC has been among the frontrunners in distribution of free meals during the countrywide lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 and has served the affected fellow citizens by distribution of more than 21 lakh plus community meals and more than 1.8 crore meals to the migrant labour travelling in Shramik Special Trains.
The recent initiative of the company to reach out to the service of poor and distressed in association with a reputed NGO reiterates its commitment of corporate social responsibility. The company plans to distribute similar meals to other cities also in association with NGOs.
