Tata Steel BSL donates ventilators and BiPAPA machines to fight COVID-19 in Khopoli

Tata Steel BSL Khopoli unit has been contributing its bit to the ongoing fight against the COVID 19 pandemic. Recently five BiPAP machines, used to give support to COVID-19 patients having breathing problem, have been handed over to Ms Nidhi Choudhari, district collector and magistrate, Raigad, Maharashtra at her office by Mr Kapil Modi, Executive Plant Head, Khopoli, Tata Steel BSL. 
 

In continuation with its support for the community during the pandemic, the steel major had earlier handed over 5 ventilators to Shri Aditya Thackery, Minister of Tourism and Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra. Responding to the need in the region, the nonfunctional Cryogenic plant of Tata Steel BSL was made operational. It has been supplying medical grade Oxygen to the local hospitals. As a member of the Industries Association of Khopoli, the company has also contributed to the supply of medical equipment to Khalapur Public Health Centre (PHC), Vavosi PHC and the health facility in Rural Hospital Chowk and also contributed Rs 3 lakhs for operational cost of COVID-19 care hospital of Khopoli.

 

Besides it has provided dry rations to more than 1000 families, PPE kits to the local hospitals, masks ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist), ANM, and medical staff, trained women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) in making masks to earn livelihood. Besides through the members of SHGs the steel major is also creating awareness on COVID appropriate behavior among the community. 15 more BiPAP machines will also be provided to the government soon by Tata Steel BSL.
