Scripting India’s Rural Development Stories: Where and What should We Focus on?
Chetna leads corporate social responsibility for Publicis Sapient pan-India, primarily focussing on the requirements under Indian law but also facilitating linkages of CSR to multiple stakeholders across the business within India and globally. She brings to her present role the expertise she gained as Chief Programme Executive of the National Foundation for CSR at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. She was closely associated with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for five years relating to CSR and business responsibility policy making and advocacy. She was one of twenty professionals selected from across India, for the CSR and sustainability focused Swedish Institute Management Programme 2013, undertaken and fully funded by the Government of Sweden.
Dr. Lopamudra is one of the leading and active figures in the field of development, where her belief of co-existing societies enables her to deliver more to masses. She further believes that social responsibilities and sustainability work in tandem, to fuel the engine of a fully functional society. She is an experienced developmental, sustainability and corporate social responsibility professional; driven by integrity and strong ethical principles. A confident leader with a passion for smart business/community improvement, she is adept in utilizing networks and government liaising to identify opportunities for community/employee outreach efforts.
Ravi Deshpande is Certified Corporate Social Responsibility Professional from IICA, the institute established by Ministry of Corporate Affairs (GoI). He has done his Masters from University of Mumbai. He has been an activist since his college days and was involved in advocacy work among the tribals of Thane district. He worked as lecturer in a reputed degree college of University of Mumbai for five years.
Harish Hande is recognized as a pioneer of rural energy service across the globe. He wanted to bust the myth that while solar energy is environmentally desirable, it is very expensive and only the rich can afford it. Through SELCO, Harish successfully demonstrated that decentralised energy solutions particularly those powered by solar, can be truly sustainable. Provided it is implemented combining appropriate technological, financial and ownership models suited to the cash flows and local contexts of the poor. For his pioneering efforts, Harish has received many national and international awards including more recently, The Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship (2018) and Asia"s prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award (2011). An accomplished professional with over two decades of rich experience across the social sector, corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
Ms Pathan currently heads the CSR and Sustainability function at HDFC Bank- one of the largest private sector banks in India to bring "Parivartan", by undertaking impactful social projects across India in the focus areas of Education, Sanitation, and Skill Development, among others. Parivartan is the bank’s umbrella brand for all its social initiatives. Prior to joining the Bank in 2006, she worked in the Social sector for over 13 years, thereby earning strong understanding of the sector and its challenges. Ms. Pathan has been pivotal in creating the Bank"s CSR roadmap and driving its implementation. She has also integrated Sustainability in the bank"s CSR journey and released its first sustainability report in 2014 She brings with her a strong understanding of the social sector and the ability to translate management vision at the grassroots and create visible impact for the organization. She is an effective communicator with exceptional relationship management skills and ability to relate to people. Ms Pathan leads the team at HDFC bank to deliver a strong program that reaches over 78 million lives through more than 60 partnerships.
