HCLFoundation expands My Clean City program to Agra
HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social responsibility agenda of HCLTech in India, has expanded its My Clean City program to Agra in Uttar Pradesh following the program’s success in Noida and Greater Noida.
As part of the initiative, HCLFoundation donated 10 e‑drain carts, two e‑street sweeping machines and one septic tank cleaning machine (HomoSep robot) to Agra Nagar Nigam to enhance sanitation infrastructure and support safer, more sustainable waste management practices in the city.
Launched in 2019, My Clean City (MCC) is redefining urban sanitation in Noida and Greater Noida through science-led waste management and strong community participation. Through this program, nearly 750,000 citizens have been sensitized on positive waste behavior, 61,000+ stakeholders have been trained on waste management practices and 17,000+ tons of waste have been managed. Over 2,400 school students are also engaged through the MCC Waste Champions Club.
“Clean and sustainable cities are built through consistent action on the ground and strong partnerships across communities and institutions. Through the My Clean City program, we are supporting urban local bodies with both infrastructure and engagement, while recognizing the everyday efforts of sanitation workers, schools and civic stakeholders who make lasting change possible,” said Alok Varma, Project Director – Samuday & My Clean City, HCLFoundation.
The HomoSep Robot deployed by HCLFoundation for handling waste from sewer and manholes has cleared 100,409 liters of sludge across 452 sites in Gautam Buddha Nagar, eliminating hazardous human involvement. Complementing mechanization, 200 sanitation worker families are supported under the Social Inclusion of Sanitation Workers program, focusing on health, social security, education, financial literacy and skill development. Additionally, five biogas plants have been established, each processing 1,500–1,800 kg of cow dung waste per day to generate clean fuel.
