Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao Inaugurates the rollout of E-bikes for ASHA workers in Bengaluru
Shri. Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka; inaugurated the rollout of E-bikes for ASHA workers in Bengaluru. The initiative by Healthium Medtech in association with United Way Bengaluru (UWBe), aims to strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery and improve mobility for frontline healthcare workers serving remote communities in Bengaluru. Shri Gurudatta Hegde, IAS, Commissioner, HFW, GoK; Dr. Avinash Menon Rajendran, IAS, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM); Dr. Vasanth Kumar K., Director of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka; Mr. Anish Bafna, CEO & MD, Healthium Medtech along with Mr. Rajesh Krishnan, CEO, United Way Bengaluru. Representatives from Healthium Medtech, United Way, Bengaluru, officials from the Primary Health Centres, and community representatives were also present at the rollout.
As part of the initiative, 69 e-bikes were handed over to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to enable healthcare staff to reach underserved areas more efficiently. The e-bikes will support field visits, community outreach, and timely delivery of essential healthcare services, strengthening the public health ecosystem at the grassroots level. Through this initiative, United Way, Bengaluru, and Healthium Medtech reaffirm their commitment to strengthening community health systems and supporting frontline workers who play a crucial role in delivering healthcare services to the last mile.
Addressing the gathering, Shri. Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Government of Karnataka, emphasized the importance of strengthening frontline healthcare systems and noted that improved mobility significantly enhances the ability of health workers to reach vulnerable communities.
