Vedanta Power's Sustainability Month Combines Environmental Protection with Community Impact

Vedanta Power Limited observed Sustainability Month 2026 from September 21 to October 16, mobilising over 2,000 employees and business partners and engaging more than 450 local communities through plantation drives, coastal clean-ups, water conservation, workplace safety and community development initiatives. Anchored in the theme Good Starts With Us, the campaign advanced the company's sustainability vision across three pillars — Transforming the Planet, Transforming the Workplace and Transforming Communities. The campaign commenced with the launch of Vedanta Power's FY26 CSR Annual Report by its senior leadership, reflecting the company's wider contribution to sustainable and inclusive development. During FY 2025–26, Vedanta Power's CSR initiatives impacted nearly 87,000 lives, while employees contributed more than 500 volunteering hours towards community development. Speaking on the initiative, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO & Whole-time Director, Vedanta Power Limited, said, “Sustainability is integral to how we operate, grow and create value for our stakeholders. From protecting natural ecosystems and strengthening workplace safety to enabling sustainable livelihoods, our efforts reflect a shared responsibility towards people and the planet. While Sustainability Month brings these initiatives into focus, our commitment to meaningful, lasting impact continues throughout the year.” Vedanta Power planted approximately 800 saplings, including fruit trees, and supported biodiversity through the inauguration of a Biodiversity Water Habitat, bird-water pots under Water to Wings, and coastal clean-ups under Clean Coast, Safe Sea. Water conservation efforts included identifying leakages, reducing potential water losses and maintaining water management infrastructure. Through Project Navi Disha, the company supported nearly 3,800 farmers across 28,000+ acres in FY26, promoting climate-smart agriculture and alternatives to crop-residue burning. Over 200 recycled notebooks were also distributed to local community in association with the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB), encouraging recycling and resource conservation. Workplace safety and environmental risk prevention remained integral to the campaign. A simulated sulphuric acid leakage drill strengthened emergency preparedness, safe chemical handling and measures to prevent potential soil and water contamination. Sustainability quizzes and interactive learning sessions encouraged employees and business partners to adopt responsible practices, reinforcing the role of individual action in building a safer, more sustainable workplace. Vedanta Power continued to promote inclusive livelihoods, healthcare and community well-being. Project TARA has empowered over 2,000 rural women through skills development, livelihood opportunities and market linkages, supported by three Micro Enterprise Centres. Stalls like TARA – The Handmade Haat and the Udyamini at the sustainability carnivals across units showcased local women-led enterprises, homegrown products and eco-friendly practices. Community health initiatives included cancer screening and general health check-up camps screened nearly 350 people, alongside an HIV/AIDS awareness session. Together, these initiatives promoted preventive healthcare, sustainable livelihoods and greater community participation. Through Sustainability Month 2026, Vedanta Power reinforced its commitment to integrating environmental responsibility with operational excellence and inclusive community development. From conserving natural resources and strengthening environmental safeguards to enabling healthier communities and women-led livelihoods, the campaign demonstrated how everyday actions and collective participation can contribute to long-term progress. The company continues to advance its vision of Transforming the Planet, Transforming the Workplace and Transforming Communities, carrying forward the momentum of Sustainability Month through responsible practices and community partnerships.
