Makkala Jagriti founded in 2003, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that empowers marginalized children and youth through a holistic approach to learning. The different spaces we work in include Government schools, Anganwadis, urban poor communities, and Child Care Institutions. We currently reach 30,000+ children and youth on a daily basis across 12 districts of Karnataka. 

Where you are born should not limit how far you go - this is the guiding principle that we strongly believe in. Using an ecosystem approach, we work closely with different stakeholders like parents, teachers, communities, and civil society to achieve our purpose. Our child-centric approach nurtures the full potential of children and helps them bloom as individuals fostering a free spirit and mind to define their own lives. We firmly believe that empowering children wholly encourages them to transcend to higher education and mainstream job opportunities.

We have been recognized by the Government of Karnataka as a credible partner for enhancing the quality of education in Anganwadis, government schools, and government childcare institutions. Through our intervention, we have been successful in creating role models among children and youth from marginalized communities who are influencing more children in their communities to become more confident, explore, learn and discover their true potential.

We have the following programs :

• Early childhood care and education for children 3-6 years in Anganwadis
• Holistic development and learning of children 6-14 years in government schools and community learning centers
• Yuva Jagriti for youth 15-29 years in urban poor communities by setting up Yuva cafe#39 in urban poor communities
• Childcare institutions for children in need of care and protection (3-17 years)
