About the organization

 

Citizens Association for Child Rights (CACR) was Established in 2013, it is registered under section 8, a Non- Profit Company. We are a development partner of UNICEF. We are Member of Maha-peconet and MAHA WASH Coalition UNICEF Mumbai-facilitated networks.


Vision: Transforming the lives of underprivileged children by implementing and improving policies with programs on Education, WASH, Nutrition, Gender Equality, and Child Protection.


Mission: Implement value-added projects for children and communities in the field of education, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, gender equality, and mental health. Bridge gap between policies and people to ensure children's rights.


We work with Municipal Zilla Parishads and Nagarpalikas, interacting with officials of education, public health, and solid waste management departments and sharing findings, preparing SoPs, and leveraging budgets for up-gradation of WASH facilities. Our primary focus is on Social Behavioral Change Communication Programs on Hand Washing With Soap, Personal Hygiene Management, Menstrual Hygiene Management, and Nutrition in government schools.To date, we have been able to reach out to more than 700 schools across Mumbai and Thane. Through our Behavioral Change Communication Programs on personal Hygiene Management and Menstrual Hygiene Management, we have reached out to 80000 children and 25000 adolescent girls. Through our awareness sessions on Personal Hygiene Management and Menstrual Hygiene Management along with providing hygiene kits, we have reached out to 32779 children and 6719 adolescent girls. We are even running programs for empowering and capacity building of Women Self Help Groups on making reusable sanitary cloth pads. To improve sustainability we are helping schools to activate and strengthen child cabinets and school management committees.

We are a section 8 non-profit organization established in 2013, we are development partners of UNICEF, Empaneled NGO with Tata Institute of Social Science, listed implementing partner of TATA Trust, and esteemed member of various coalitions like MAHA PECONET and MAHA Urban WASH Coalition. In a very short amount of time, we have experience working with different types of corporates, foundations, and PSUs. Such as BPCL, ONGC, NSE Foundation We understand the importance of efficient and effective implementation of the projects along with value addition.

  • UNICEF: Back to School, strengthening of child cabinets, School Management Committees, Augmentation of WASH Infrastructure in School in Thane Municipal Corporation.
  • UNICEF: Flood Relief Response in Raigad and Ratnagiri
  • BPCL: Awareness on Personal Hygiene Management and Menstrual Hygiene Management along with distribution of Personal Hygiene Kits and Menstrual Hygiene Kits
  • UNICEF: Flush the Virus – Improving WASH Facilities in Community Toilets and Awareness activities on COVID 19 Appropriate Behaviour
  • BPCL: Ensuring Safe Drinking water and Installation of Water
  • ONGC: Distribution of safety hygiene kits to sanitation workers, police personnel, etc
  • NSE FOUNDATION: Distribution of meals to Attendees of COVID-19 Patients in Mumbai and Yevatmal and Ration kits to Rag pickers and shelter homes
  • BPCL: COVID-19 Relief – 10000 Distribution of Ration Kits
  • ALL INDIA LOCAL SELF GOVERNANCE: COVID-19 Response, Infection Prevention, and Control along with Strengthening WASH infrastructure.

Secondly, we are able to reform the project as per the need assessment as well as the requirement of the corporates. Considering we have been implementing partners for UNICEF for quite a long time now, we also have ample amount of experience in different thematic areas keeping and linking them SDGs as well government initiatives.

  • Nayi Umed Nayi Shuruvaat - Maharashtra Flood Response in Raigad and Ratnagiri: 12300 families, 13000 Children beneficiaries
  • Vaccination Facilitation and Awareness Drive on Vaccination and COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour: 4,93,110 beneficiaries
  • Flush the Virus: 8,00,000 beneficiaries
  • WASH Ek Safar: RCCE – COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour: 50,000 beneficiaries
  • Distribution of Essential Safety Kits: 10000
  • WASH at Health Care Facilities: 423 Health Care Facilities
  • Water Purifiers at MCGM Schools: 1,00,000 Children beneficiaries
  • Awareness on Personal Hygiene Management and Menstrual Hygiene Management: 50,000 beneficiaries
  • Distribution of Essential Safety Kits: 1,00,000 Families of slum dwellers, daily wagers, migrants, vulnerable population like transgender, rag pickers, etc.

Thirdly, we are a close-knitted organization founded by a passionate individual with 35 years of professional experience dealing with large corporates and PSUs and is managed by individuals with expertise in various fields backed up by a highly experienced advisory team and Board of Directors. We understand the importance of simplicity, transparency, sincerity, and sustainability.
