About the organization

Light of Life Trust, a non-governmental organization established in 2002 and registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 was founded by Villy Doctor, with a vision to transform the lives of under-privileged rural communities in India through Education,Livelihood and Skilling programmes and Primary Health Care services divided under two main verticals:
1. Project Anando -Initiated in 2005, sustains probable secondary school dropouts and equips them with skills to live in mainstream society, thus contributing to their all-round development.
1.1 Anando programme:
The project adopts the 3E approach of ‘Educate, Empower and Equip for Employability’ to support children to realise their fullpotential and create a major human resource for the country through - distribution of education material, weekend workshops forpersonality development and building self-confidence, intensive counselling and ongoing home visits, parent and communityawareness and training sessions, teachers and peer group meetings, Mahacharcha and Sphurti programme to strengthenpreparedness of Std X students, Anant, SFSEP, and Anando Plus programmes.
1.2 Anando Plus:
In the academic year 2007 – 08, LOLT under its Project Anando launched a special programme – Anando Plus, with the aim tosupport Anando students post Std X (SSC) to make appropriate career choices based on their aptitude, capabilities and interesteither to pursue higher education or undertake vocational training. Efforts are made to network with local educational institutes togive special considerations and/or generate financial support through scholarships for the needy children.
2. Project Jagruti - Initiated in the year 2009 supports the holistic development of underprivileged rural communities through three major programmes covering livelihood training, healthcare and environment conservation.
2.1 Livelihood Training:
The Jeevan Asha Community Centre equips underprivileged rural women and girls and unemployed youth through livelihood training programmes thereby enhancing their income generating skills leading them to attain financial independence. The courses offered are - tailoring, beauty care, computers, electrician, journalism, health attendant etc.
2.2 Primary Health Care:
Medical Mobile Unit, operating since 2012, provides primary health care services to remote rural parts and tribal hamlets around Karjat Taluka having no access to any kind of medical facilities.
2.3 Environment Conservation Programme:
Initiated with an aim to provide additional source of income to poor farmers with the distribution and close monitoring of fruit bearing plants to them.

Their goal is not just literacy but complete all round development of each child through our 3E Approach leading to our beneficiaries taking life changing decisions by choosing appropriate career paths further leading to their becoming responsible citizens of our country. The organization supports deserving children to take a decision post state level exam on the career they want to take up. Students desirous of pursuing higher education are also supported to seek admissions to colleges in their fields of interest. Career opportunities are enhanced by networking with vocational guidance and training institutes as well as corporate and entrepreneurs to enable student placements.
Light of life Trust through its holistic development approach is looking at supporting and strengthening capacities of its beneficiaries to break out of the vicious generational cycle of poverty that rural India is reeling under. Through its ongoing efforts the organization is looking at building a generation of youth who are literate, confident and knowledgeable of the world in which they live and who are able to make effective career choices that would lead them to gainful means of livelihood and make them and their families financial independent and stable.
Light of Life Trust launched its education initiative – Project Anando with 25 students in Karjat Tehsil, Raigad District, Maharashtra State in the 2005.Project Anando supports probable secondary school dropouts to complete their basic education & make appropriate career choices leading to financial independence. Till date Project Anando hastransformed the lives of 10989 children directly and 98911 indirectly across 520 villages in India. It is currently operational in the states of Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
