The SOSVA Training and Promotion Institute (STAPI) is a support service organization focusing on building the capacities of the voluntary organizations working in the diverse field of social sectors to enable them to play a more sustainable and effective role in all sectors of socio-economic development in the service of the under-privileged section of the community. This includes capacity building, NGO promotion and their strengthening for qualitative sustainable contribution for the betterment of society.STAPI is organizing series of training Programmeson various issues relevant to NGOs. STAPI as a support service organization is focusing mainly on strengthening and capacity building NGOs / CBO’s / CSO’s / People's Collectives formed by SHG’s / SHG Federations / Various village and Urban level Committees like Community Managed Resource Centers / Mahila Arogya Samiti’s working in diverse field of Social Sectors.

The Governing Council of STAPI are the people of vision, dedication and experience recipients of several national and international awards like Padmabhushan, Magasaysay and Mother Teresa Awards in recognition of their long years of selfless service in community welfare and Public Health. Their presence on our Governing Council vouches for our integrity and commitment to the voluntary sector. Late.Mr. V. Srinivasan, IAS (Retd) and Late. Dr. R. S. Arole are the Founder Members of STAPI.

STAPI also has the rich experience in conducting entrepreneurship training; Vocational training and Skill trainings in the areas of Health – Training of Bedside Assistants / Hygiene Technicians Trainings in Tailoring, Making of Nutritious food for Aaganwadi Children Running of Flour Mill, Goatary, Poultry and Spices Making training.It has been recognized as a capacity building partner by various national and international organizations for conducting various trainings and for Implementation of Social Development Projects.

STAPI has also brought out several publications for the voluntary organizations. It is making continuous efforts in inculcating the good governance norms in voluntary organizations aiming at transparency and accountability in their functioning.Linkages; Networking & Tie-ups at District level STAPI as a Nodal Agency / Mother NGO and as a capacity building organization has strong linkages and excellent network with several NGO’s & their networks, with various Government Organizations at Block, District, State and National level. STAPI thus has a rich experience and expertise in organizing capacity building initiatives for NGOs and individuals from various sectors and with different background of experience and expertise.

The Corporate has multiple advantages of partnering with us. The Organization strongly believes in community ownership as a part of program sustainance. Our experiences of field level implementation have repeatedly demonstrated that if the community is involved right from inception of any project, the community involvement is more visible. From this point of view all our activities are participatory in nature and even the monitoring strategies are community led to be the peoples centric and community accountability as a part of Project Governance and Sustenance.

The Organization has been accorded Nodal Agency Status almost by all Development portfolio’s viz Public Health, Women and Child Development, Tribal Development, Water & Sanitation, Rural Development and Social Welfare, Youth Development to name a few.

The Organization is also recognized as a capacity building partner’s by various national and international organizations like NABARD, RMK, NIPCCD, World Bank, UNFPA, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation etc.

Additionally, the organization has diverse experience in implementation of various CSR Development Projects and has successfully demonstrated effective CSR partnership with leading Corporate’s of the country. It will not be out of place to mention that STAPI has also served as Nodal Agency for CSR dissemination and advocacy by Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. One of our training areas is Capacity Building Training in developing effective NGO-CSR partnership both for NGO’s and Corporate’s.

The Organization has strong linkages with various Government Organization at National / State / District / Block / Village level and have networking and excellent rapport with NGO’s working in diverse social sectors, experienced subject experts and resource persons across Maharashtra.

Thus the organization have multi dimensional experience of Nodal Agency followed by rich experience in direct implementation of the programmes and a strong capacity building partner for enhancing the capacities of community and other relevant stake holders including CBO’s, leading to “People’s Collective” in true sense of the term.
