About the organization

Ekam Foundation is an NGO that works to reduce child and maternal deaths by improving the overall well-being and health of the community. Ekam was born out of a simple vision: no child should be denied the right to healthcare. It believes that any social problem requires a multi-pronged approach, and the way to realizing healthy and happy babies requires interventions in various ecosystems: healthcare, communities, and maternal health and well-being. Ekam works to strengthen public healthcare systems, not replace it.
Ekam also believes that healthcare is not a standalone component, but comprises several overlapping wellness indicators including, but not limited to, sanitation, waste management, education, and nutrition. Small, incremental shifts in several ecosystems have the power to snowball into major paradigm shifts. Keeping this in mind, Ekam works with hospitals, mothers, communities, expectant mothers (and fathers), youth, and communities to help create better health outcomes.
The 10+ years in the field has helped Ekam create a holistic flagship initiative for health and well-being: The Sustainable Well-Being Initiative, which helps communities take ownership of public health and wellness services.
Vision
