About the organization

ETASHA Society, a not-for-profit organization, has been working since 2006 to skill underprivileged communities for sustained employment and income generation. We work with low-income communities, with a special focus on youth, adolescents and women, to empower them with the skills, confidence and mindset required for modern-day work environments. We envision a future where every Indian is self-reliant, has self-worth and leads a dignified and productive life. ETASHA’s work is aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations:

  • SDG 1 – No Poverty
  • SDG 3 – Good Health & Well-being
  • SDG 4 - Quality Education,
  • SDG 5 - Gender Equality,
  • SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth,
  • SDG 17 - Partnerships to achieve the Goal

Approach to Skill Development: Our experience of working with youth for over 15 years has led to the firm belief that effective and sustainable change in mindsets of youth towards sustainable income generation and growth through employment, self-employment or entrepreneurship, can be achieved only through supportive change in the thinking of other significant members of their ecosystem. Over the years, we have developed and implemented several interventions aimed at bringing about mind-set change in various segments in the community. The end-goal is to develop an ecosystem where skills are valued and respected, and people are enabled to work with dignity and self-respect.

Areas Of Operation: ETASHA has an All-India Registration, and we have executed projects in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal and Haryana. Currently, we work in and around 9 communities including 4 in Delhi – Devli-Khanpur, Sangam Vihar, Mangolpuri-Sultanpuri and Aurobindo Ashram-Begumpur which are large slum and slum resettlement clusters as well as in 4 rural communities – 2 around Gurugram, 1 in Janouli Village in Palwal District and 1 large cluster of villages around Pataudi in Haryana. We also collaborate with several NGOs to run programs in their locations in the NCR region
